Heavenly Apple Bread with Caramel Icing Recipe

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Pan size: 9 x 5 inch loaf pan
Temp: 325°F degrees
Baking time: 55 to 60 minutes
Servings: Makes 1 loaf

Heavenly Apple Bread with Caramel Icing Recipe

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 tablespoons butter milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup plain flour
2 apples, chopped

Heavenly Apple Bread with Caramel Icing Baking Directions

Pre heat the oven. Wash core, peel, and chop apples into small chunks, set aside.

Beat shortening, sugar and eggs. Add butter milk and vanilla. Sift flour and add to mixture. Stir in apples.Pour apple bread batter into a bread loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray. Bake. Remove from the oven, let cool few minutes then roll out onto a baking rack to cook.

Caramel Icing:

1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup powdered sugar or more if needed
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Bring butter and milk to a boil for about 1 minute. Whisk enough powdered sugar to make the icing into a spreadable consistency. Stir in chopped walnuts and spread on bread.
