Cranberry Baked Apples - Slow Cooker Recipe

Baking Directions

For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonagold, Empire, Regent, Spartan, Newtown apples or a mixture of your favorite apples together.

Temp: low
Cooking time: 4 to 5 hours
Servings: 4 or one apple per serson - easly doubled and cooked in a larger slow cooker.

Mmm! Jazzed-up Cranberry Baked Apples taste like apple pie without the fuss of making a crust. Some cooking apples hold their shape better after cooking. Try Jonagold, Rome Beauty, Golden Delicious, Beacon, San Rose or Wealthy apples.

4 large cooking apples
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries
1/2 cup cranberry-apple drink
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Chopped nuts, if desired Core apples. Fill centers of apples with brown sugar and cranberries. Place apples in 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. In small bowl, mix cranberry-apple drink and butter; pour over apples.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 to 5 hours. To serve, spoon apples into dessert dishes. Spoon sauce over apples. Sprinkle with nuts.

Like apple pie with Cheddar cheese? Sprinkle these hot baked apples with shredded Cheddar cheese instead of the nuts.
