For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith apples with Braeburn apples, or Northern Spies apples with Newtown apples or all apples together. Pan size: 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking dish |
3 peach's cut in half, peeled and the seed removed
1 cup sugar
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1. Mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg together. Roll the peach halves in the sugar mixture, set peaches aside.
PASTRY:
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup milk
1. Sift together flour and salt, cut in shortening with a pastry knife until flour looks like meal. Mix together egg, salt, and lemon juice; sprinkle over flour mixture; mix with fork until dough stays together. Make 6 balls of dough and roll out dough 1/8" thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into 6" squares.
2. Place one peach half into the center of each square. Bring up the corners and seal seams. Brush each peach dumpling with the milk and sprinkle left over sugar and spice mixture over the top of the peach dumplings. Bake in 9 x 13 x 2 pan until golden brown.
