For a great combination of baking apple; use Granny Smith apples with Braeburn apples, or Northern Spies apples with Newtown apples or all apples together. Pan size: large pot with a lid |
1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar, divided
2 tablespoon chopped pecans, toasted
1/4 cup skim milk
1/8 teaspoon. butter flavoring
2 cups sliced fresh peaches (about 1 1/2 lbs.)
2/3 cup unsweetened grape juice
1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
1. To make the dumpling batter, combine flour, baking powder, salt, 2 tablespoons sugar and pecans; stir well. Stir in milk and butter flavoring; set aside.
2. Combine peaches, grape juice, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, and apple pie spice in a saucepan; stir well. Bring to a boil. Drop 1/4 of batter at a time into boiling peach mixture. Making 4 dumpling.
3. Cover and cook over medium heat 10 to 12 minutes or until dumplings are done.
